The Center for Autism & Neurodevelopmental Disorders serves Southern California's diverse population.In the past year, we helped over 3,300 families through over 18,000 visits. Nearly half of these families relied on Medicaid/CalOptima and one-third were non-English speaking. We have trained professionals throughout our community to better support these families and the community at large. While we look forward to a day where the impact of ASD is lessened, we're committed to helping patients and their families grow in experience and understanding today. Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) now occur in about 1 in 36 children. Our vision is to ease families' burden by expanding the clinical services offered at The Center, by building capacity in our community through professional training and to better understand ASD through our ground-breaking research.

Responsibilities:

The role of the Behavioral Health Counselor 2 is to provide support to our Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA)/Behavioral Intervention team at UCIs Center for Autism & Neurodevelopmental Disorders (CAND). The BEH Health Counselor will work under the direction of the assigned BCBA Case Supervisor. The ABA/Behavioral Intervention Division offers behavioral treatments using ABA strategies in clinical and community-based settings to individuals (18 months to 22 years of age) with ASD, other neurodevelopment disorders, or other health conditions that affects development. The BEH Health Counselor will be responsible for implementing the behavioral plan as outlined by the BCBA Case Supervisor.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to utilize computer application software: Windows, MS-Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
  • Ability to work in a collaborative manner with a diverse client group
  • 2 years experience working with children and their families

Preferred:

  • Theoretical knowledge of basic ABA principles and methodology
  • Experience as an Registered Behavioral Therapist (RBT)
  • 2 years experience working with special needs children and their families
  • Experience using electronic medical records (EMR)
  • Proficient in Spanish, and/or Vietnamese (oral and written)
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
