  • TITLE: Behavior Intervention Specialist
  • QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education or Behavioral Science, and required certification beyond Bachelor's Degree
  • Course work in the areas of psychology, social work, special education, counseling, rehabilitation, etc.
  • Previous experience working with children and adolescents.
  • Emotionally mature and stable.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
  • Pass a criminal history background check.
  • Able to perform assigned tasks.
  • Must be certified as BI-PRO as outlined in the Idaho Health and Welfare Intervention Specialist Qualification Worksheet.
  • Suitable replacement for above requirement is having a certification program that is expected to be granted in the next 30-60 days, or possess a Standard Exceptional Child - Generalist Teaching Certificate or other appropriate Special Education Teaching Certificate as issued by the Idaho State Department of Education.
  • Successful community-based experience working with children with disabilities or experience working in a school environment with students with disabilities.
  • Ability to work with students, staff, and building/district administration.

  • JOB GOALS:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.To assist students with behavioral or emotional disabilities by implementing services as prescribed by the students Individual Education Plan.To prepare students to participate in other therapies and learning opportunities with a demonstrated decrease in behaviors that interfere with learning. By providing individualized comprehensive proven interventions used on a short term, one-on-one basis that produce measurable outcomes which diminish behaviors that interfere with the development and use of language and appropriate social interaction skills or broaden an otherwise severely restricted range of interest.
  • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Delivers interventions in the area of appropriate school related behaviors and interpersonal skills.
  • Collects and reports progress data to supervisor.
  • Attends school meetings concerning assigned students.
  • Provides support related to activities of daily living in areas such as personal hygiene, transportation and money management.
  • Assists students in organizing materials and class assignments.
  • Listens and resolves student issues and/or refers to the Building Administrator.
  • Provides prompts to assist students in managing behavior.
  • Furnishes guidelines and prompts to assist the students in appropriate social behavior.
  • Functions as a member of a team of people providing assistance to the student.
  • Tracks billing for all Medicaid eligible students.
  • Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
  • Has regular and predictable attendance.
  • Willingness to move between students and school in the district.
  • Other Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performs all other duties, as assigned.
    • TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
    The exact terms of this position will be determined by the needs of the students and budgetary constraints. Wages will be in accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a Grade 4. This is an at-will position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law. The employment at will policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 215.
    • EVALUATION:
    Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Director of Special Services in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of classified personnel. Primary LocationDistrict WideSalary Range$18.25 - $20.00 / Per HourShift TypePart-Time / Full-Time
