Behavior Intervention SpecialistCHS Middletown - Middletown, PAFull-TimeThe Behavior Intervention Specialist assists with the delivery of comprehensive behavioral management and support services for CHS children and staff. This includes but is not limited to supporting the implementation of Tier 1 (Universal) classroom interventions and directly implementing Tier 2 (Targeted) and Tier 3 (Intensive) interventions. The primary purpose of this position is to develop and implement individual skill work and social skills groups for children; collaborate and develop behavior plans and participate in individualized Child Study Teams when needed. The position provides consultation to staff and families, as appropriate concerning behavioral management strategies and supports. In addition, the Behavior Intervention Specialist will be responsible for ensuring continuity of care and safety for children in crisis. The person in this position is also responsible for researching and utilizing evidence based social and emotional learning materials. Essential to this position is an effective, collaborative approach to working with and supporting families, teachers, Family Success, and Health Services staff members. Starting salary is in the range of $39,277 to $52,435 based on expertise.Responsibilities:Direct and Indirect Support of ChildrenAssist with the operation and quality assurance for all child support programsDevelop and implement individual skill work and social skills groups for children utilizing evidence based social and emotional learning materials across all 3 tiersComplete progress monitoring and evaluate service effectiveness for care rendered on an ongoing basisComplete progress notes and summaries for children needing behavioral support programsCreate individualized behavior plans for children as appropriate (within the context of Child Study Teaming)Maintain a high standard of professional ethics and expectationsRespond to and effectively manage children who are in crisisFollow all CHS policies and proceduresConsultation and collaboration with families, Child Study Teams, teachers, Family Success, and Health Services staff for children receiving behavioral supportBehavioral/Educational Program DevelopmentDevelop curricular materials for Behavioral Services programmingResearch evidenced-based interventions and practices for tier2 and tier 3 interventions; modify as appropriateComplete program evaluations and modify services based upon evaluation results in order to ensure efficacy of servicesAssist with ensuring the linkage of all Health Services programming to CHS goalsOther responsibilitiesScore and assist with the scoring of behavioral protocolsRespond to requests for reports and records, including data analytics and reportsParticipate in various committees for the development and/or enhancement of CHS programmingMaintain strong and consistent boundaries and serve as a positive role model for children, staff, and familiesAs appropriate, contribution to CQI initiatives.Other duties as assignedQualifications:Bachelor's degree required3-5 years of previous experience in a similar roleUnderstanding of child developmentBehavioral Health Pyramid ModelExperience and knowledge in Early ChildhoodEducation program and teaching standards, including code of ethics - NAEYC standards preferredFamiliarity with inquiry-based and project approach learning, as well as PBIS strategies preferredExperience with crisis management and behavior managementExperience with Functional Behavioral AnalysisExperience working with individuals in a group settingEffective listening skill and consultation skillSensitivity to individual needsEffective communication skills - verbal and writtenExperience in social emotional curriculum and tiered intervention programmingExperience in behavior intervention development and implementationAbility to establish authentic rapport with children from six weeks to five years of ageAbility to defuse emotionally charged situations and maintain calm demeanorAbility to work independently and as a teamAbility to respect confidentialityDemonstrated understanding of and ability to effectively work with low-income families preferredComfortability with technology including MS Office Suite and various softwareCommitment to the mission and values of CHS and MHS and demonstrated high degree of integrity as all MHS and CHS staff are considered to be role models for childrenU.S. work authorization and successful completion of pre-employment background checks and clearancesWho we are and what we're looking forAt CHS, we are leaders passionate about early childhood education and community betterment.
