Job Description:
DescriptionJob Overview: The role of the Behavioral Intervention Specialist is to work with our Care Management team to advise on how to best provide support to members with behavioral needs. This is a remote position but may require occasional visits to local offices.Location: Candidates should live in New York State, or in New Jersey/Connecticut close to the New York border. Essential Responsibilities:
  • Serve as part of the Clinical Team for Person Centered Services.
  • Provide case review or audit of individuals with significant behavior issues.
  • Review Behavior Service Plans and offer relevant input.
  • Serve as a consultant in situations where behavioral intervention expertise is required.
  • Review and analyze data and trends.
  • Design, implement, and present training as needed.
  • Provide case review or audit of individuals with significant behavior issues.
  • Participate in mandatory staff meetings.
  • Any other duties as deemed relevant by supervisor/organization
RequirementsSpecific Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of developmental disabilities, mental health, and social determinants of health.
  • Ability to teach and lead others while providing medical expertise.
  • Knowledge of person-centered planning regulations.
  • Demonstrates effective leadership skills.
  • Demonstrates cultural competence.
  • Demonstrates ethical and professional responsibilities and boundaries.
  • Demonstrates capacity to use Health Information Technology to facilitate communication.
  • Knowledge of confidentiality regulations/HIPPA.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete work in timely manner.
  • Proactively approaches professional responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate a comfort level of engaging with people with behavioral health needs.
Experience:
  • Master's Degree in the field of psychology, social work, or a related field with at least 2 years of experience working with Intellectually and/or Developmentally Disabled individuals.
  • Licensure preferred related to degree, social work, mental health counseling, or psychology.
  • Knowledge of OPWDD services and regulations
  • Strong computer knowledge.
  • Familiarity with person-first, person-centered planning concepts.
  • Experience related to the roles of being an ABA, Behavioral Intervention Specialist, or other behavioral experience. The license should still reflect an LMSW or LCSW, or LBA.
