New Jersey Institute for Disabilities (NJID) is one of the largest not-for-profit agencies of its kind in the nation. It services infants, children, and adults with developmental and related disabilities. NJID offers specialized facilities, programs, and support throughout New Jersey. Join our dedicated staff of more than 500 and make a difference in someone's life! We are hiring Behavior Specialists to oversee the behavioral needs of individuals with intellectual, developmental, and related disabilities in residential and day programs in multiple counties in New Jersey. As a Behavior Specialist, you will receive:

  • Supervised by the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst for BCBA or BCaBA candidates.
    • Including unrestricted and restricted hours from 20-130 experience hours a month.
    • Weekly supervision includes face-to-face contact and a review of principles and concepts that follow the BACB Task List.
    • An opportunity to learn communication and leadership skills in a unique behavior environment that serves the adult population in both group homes and day programs.
Job Responsibilities of a Behavior Specialist:
  • Oversees the behavior needs of individuals approaches in one or more designated programs, such as Residential Services and Day Programs
  • Identifies target behavior, creates client-centered behavior support plans, ensures proper implementation of behavior support plans & designs data collection
  • Researches interventions while ensuring best practice techniques
  • Conducts assessments, including functional and reinforcer assessments
  • Completes accurate and timely documentation of services
  • Works collaboratively to ensure effective service delivery
  • Attends and facilitates team meetings and training.
  • Participates in weekly supervision requirements
  • Travel required to multiple locations as needed.
Job Requirements:
  • At least one year of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities & supervised experience. Involving behavior assessment & development of BSPs, AND
  • Master's or Bachelor's degree in applied behavioral analysis, psychology, special education, social work, public health counseling, or a similar degree
  • Experience with writing behavior support plans for adults is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • A valid driver's license is in good standing and must be insurable through NJID's automobile insurance.
Position Details: Location: Toms River, Manahawkin, Barnegat, Manalapan, Marlboro, Aberdeen, Edison, Bridgewater, Piscataway, Iselin, Port Reading, and Keasby County: Multiple Counties Hours Per Work Week: 40 Weekly Work Schedule: Flexible - based on the needs of the programs. Benefits:
