Salary : $60,569.52 - $73,631.88 AnnuallyLocation : Compton, CAJob Type: 12 MonthsJob Number: 24/25 - 18Department: Special EducationOpening Date: 10/11/2024Closing Date: 11/4/2024 11:59 PM PacificPosition Details PURPOSE:Under the direction of the Senior Director of Special Education and as directed by the Physchologist/BCBA lead, or other Certificated employee, administer Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) instruction to preschool to transition aged students in a school or home setting, assist with home and/or school ABA programs and provide training and instruction to entry-level and less experienced Instructional Assistants, to Certificated Staff, as well as assist with training sessions for parents, assist with scheduling and other organizational duties necessary for the functioning of the program, and to do related work as assigned. DISTINGUISHED CHARACTERISTICS: Positions assigned to this class are distinguished by the emphasis on knowledge of methodologies found to benefit some children with autism spectrum disorder including, but not limited to: Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), Applied Verbal Behavior (AVB), TEACCH, PECS, Social Stories, and integrated play groups. Instruction may be subject to frequent observation by parents and/or outside agencies. Flexibility in work locations, program assignments and designated hours is desirable. Essential Functions - Typical DutiesESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- TYPICAL DUTIES: Assist instructional personnel in the implementation of Individualized Educational Plans (IEP's) for students. Provide training and instruction to Instructional Assistants and Certificated staff, including subject specific training for beginners and advanced learners alike. Provide Applied Behavior Analysis instruction to select students one-on-one and in small or large groups. Provide trainings designed for parents or other district program staff as needed. Conduct crisis prevention intervention training for district staff. Provide demonstration and instruction to less experienced Instructional Assistance through coaching, modeling or shadowing techniques. Provide information to supervisor concerning student progress. Conduct probes and report outcomes to supervisor regarding direction for program changes. Maintain and organize program notebooks, and develop and maintain data books.Prepare specialized training and instructional materials including visual schedules, token systems, and social stories. Implement program modifications based on data. Attend student progress meetings; collect and summarize data for student progress reports. Attend IEP meetings to provide input and collaborate on behavioral strategies and behavior intervention plans. Provide input on appropriate accommodations and modifications for student behavior. Promote communication between all members of the team. Act as team leader for students in home and/or preschool programs as needed. Maintain a variety of records and files, including confidential student records and information. Provide input for evaluation of Instructional Assistants when asked. Assist with toileting or other personal care needs as needed.Perform related duties as assigned.SPECIAL INFORMATION: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Some positions may require the ability to directly assist the teacher in the lifting or moving of pupils who weigh up to 50 pounds on and off a school bus, in a classroom, and during outside activities as necessary. Some positions may require the use of multi-person lift or may require to learn the use of mechanical lifting equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers and other mobility devises to lift or move pupils who may weigh in excess of 50 pounds or present other lifting problems. Some positions may require safely providing physical support to pupils of any weight to assist in their movement. Some positions may assist in transporting pupil from home to school and return. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Minimum Qualifications - Education and ExperienceEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Education: Completion of at least 2 years (48 semester units) of study at an institution of higher education or possession of an associate's degree is required. Bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field is desired. Experience: Three years experience in working with school-aged children, including at least one year's experience working with children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorders) in applied behavior analysis instruction.A minimum of 300 hours of experience administering applied behavior analysis instruction to students of various stages of program is desirable. Certifications and other requirements: Certification of successful completion of an approved Applied Behavior Analysis Instruction program. Training in a variety a variety of methodologies related to working with students with an ASD diagnosis is preferred. Willingness to complete District training sessions. Possession of a valid California Driver's License•Health and Welfare Plan for employees and eligible dependents. Plan includes District/Employee paid premium for health, dental, and vision.•Paid Vacation: Vacation is prorated based on months worked per year and longevity with the District.•Holidays: 16 days paid per fiscal year
