Job Description:
*If you are located within an hour & 1/2 of our Novi office, this position will be hybrid (one day per week on Wednesdays in office). If you are located outside of this area but in the state of Michigan, this position will be remote. Altarum's Division of Population Health is pleased to announce an opening for a Behavioral Health Project Director to lead work with the State of Michigan. The Behavioral Health Project Director will serve as Project Director on training and technical assistance (TTA) contracts; supervise behavioral health staff; and oversee project work and new business development. The Behavioral Health Project Director also will establish and maintain positive client relationships, identify and pursue opportunities for new business, and perform as a senior leader on the BH team.Responsibilities
    • Independently plan, conduct, and technically direct complex, cross functional, and high revenue projects, coordinating efforts of staff.
    • Demonstrate advanced subject matter expertise in substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and peer recovery support services (PRSS), as well as issues confronting the BH workforce.
    • Independently provide expert consultation and solutions for clients.
    • Supervise and mentor BH team members who provide TTA services as well as project managers.
    • Keep skills and knowledge up to date through professional development and other educational methods.
    • Work closely with the Behavioral Health Program Director to lead strategy and innovation for the behavioral health focus area.
    • Provide thought leadership, subject matter expertise, and project/client management capabilities as needed.
    • Lead federal, state, and philanthropic proposal efforts.
Qualifications
    • Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work, public health, human development, child psychology, family studies or related field (preferred)
    • Minimum thirteen(13) years' work experience, including specific experience in SUD, PRSS, co-occurring disorders, and BH workforce concerns
    • Minimum six (6) years of experience directing projects and managing staff
    • Experience in a behavioral health care system, community behavioral health center, or community public health setting, or similar context (experience in Michigan preferred)
    • Experience working with mid-level and senior clinical and/or administrative leaders in diverse settings
    • Ability to travel approximately 20% time within the State of Michigan
    • Experience with peer support/peer recovery (lived experience or ally a plus)
    • Knowledge of behavioral health program operations at the federal, state, and local levels
    • Experience managing, coordinating, or contributing to large-scale proposal efforts
Knowledge
    • Principles of effective team leadership and mentoring
    • Principles and practices of recovery-oriented and trauma-informed BH systems of care
    • Evidence-based behavioral health interventions for adults and youth with substance use disorders, including peer support and recovery incentives
    • Implementation approaches for SUD services across diverse, community-based settings
    • BH system of care in Michigan
Competencies
    • Proven ability to successfully lead teams to produce high-quality results
    • Ability to identify and lead teams to pursue strategies for new business growth
    • Successful provision of training and technical assistance, including assisting BH providers with implementation of evidence-based and promising practices
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong organizational skills and high level of attention to detail; flexibility to manage multiple priorities, sometimes simultaneously, under tight deadlines
    • Facilitation of meetings, day-long trainings, and other working sessions
    • Communication of behavioral health portfolio to funders, decision-makers, and lay audiences
Logistical Requirements
    • This position will be located in Michigan.If you are local to our office in Novi, MI, this role will be hybrid.
    • At this time, we will only accept candidates who are presently eligible to work in the United States and will not require sponsorship.
    • Our organization requires that all work, for the duration of your employment, must be completed in the continental U.S. unless required by contract.
