POSITION SUMMARYThe Behavioral Health Registered Nurse will focus on providing care and support to clients with mental health disorders who are receiving treatment on an outpatient basis. The individual in this role will help ensure that consumers of Hoyleton's behavioral health services are served through an integrated healthcare model. The Behavioral Health Registered Nurse will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans, promote mental health education, and ensure high-quality client care. This position requires advanced knowledge in the field of medicine and community mental health obtained through a combination of work experience and intellectual instruction.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIESManagement: Providing medical direction and participating in hiring, assigning tasks, performance appraisal, and management of Medical Assistant/CNA staff.Assessment: Conducting thorough assessments of patients' mental and physical health status, including evaluating their symptoms, behaviors, and overall well-being.Treatment Planning: Collaborating with the integrated healthcare team to develop individualized care plans for patients, which may include medication management, therapy, and other interventions. Provide medical consultation and direction to team members as needed for client care. Medication Management: Administering psychiatric medications as prescribed by providers, monitoring medication efficacy, and educating patients about their medications and potential side effects. Therapeutic Interventions: Providing psychoeducation, and skill-building interventions to help clients manage their mental health conditions.Care Coordination: Collaborating with team members, psychiatrists, psychologists, and social workers, and maintaining ongoing collaborative relationships with external healthcare providers, esp. primary care providers, to develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive treatment plans for patients.Patient Education: Educating patients and their families about mental and general health conditions, treatment options, coping strategies, and community resources available to support their recovery.Crisis Management: Assessing and managing patients in crisis situations, providing crisis intervention, and coordinating referrals to higher levels of care when necessary.Health Promotion and Prevention: Promoting mental health awareness, conducting screenings for mental and general health conditions and risk factors for chronic illness, and implementing interventions to prevent relapse or deterioration of mental and physical health symptoms.Documentation and Record-keeping: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting assessments, care plans, interventions, and progress notes in compliance with healthcare regulations.Patient Advocacy: Advocating for patients' rights, ensuring they receive appropriate care and support, and assisting them in navigating the healthcare system.Self-care and Support: Practicing self-care strategies, seeking supervision and support from colleagues, and accessing resources to manage the emotional demands of working with individuals with mental health challenges.Professional Development:Stay current with advancements in psychiatric nursing and mental health treatment through continuing education and professional development.Participate in research activities and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of behavioral health as available and/or as approved by Hoyleton.Adheres to and follows all other required duties necessary and assigned by direct supervisor.SKILLS and ABILITIESStrong organizational and time management skills.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Ability to develop and maintain relationships with community providers in the assigned service area. Interpersonal skills to work with the staff of all departments, leadership, and community organizationsEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCEBachelor of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing.Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license. Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in psychiatric or mental health settings preferred.Strong knowledge of psychiatric disorders, psychopharmacology, and psychotherapeutic techniques.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.Commitment to person-centered care and continuous improvement.CARE & TCI One of the essential job functions of any position within the agency is to align your performance with our overarching philosophy of CARE. All decisions, actions, communication, and performance should align with the six CARE principles (Developmentally Focused, Family Involved, Relationship Based, Ecologically Oriented, Competence Centered, and Trauma Informed). Not only must you complete the CARE training with satisfactory participation, but you must then put that training into practice in your everyday work. Every employee must also pass TCI training with a satisfactory grade in written and/or physical testing. All employees must remain current on refresher training that is provided monthly at all locations. You will be tested every 6 months on the physical portion, if applicable to your position. You will be tested annually on the written portion, regardless of your position. If you are not current on your TCI refresher training every six months, you will be required to retake the full course. If you do not pass either test, you may be required to retake the full course. Not only must you complete the TCI training with satisfactory participation, but you must then put that training into practice in your everyday work.Location:62208
