Work one weekend a month, two weeks a year over the summer in the Army Reserves. The US Army and Army Reserves has multiple vacancies for an entry level Behavior Health Specialist,. You do not require prior training or experience in this career field in order to qualify for this position. If you qualify, you will be given a date to attend the 10 week Basic training followed by the 20 week Advanced Individual Training (AIT). You would receive full time Army pay and Benefits while attending training. 17 Nationally Recognized Certifications are available with this training.
As a Behavior Health Specialist, you'll work under the supervision of psychologists, psychiatrists, and social workers to help administer mental health care to service members. You'll conduct intake interviews and counsel patients to ensure they get the treatment they need to be productive and healthy members of the Army. Additionally, you'll be needed to help your fellow soldiers learn to manage any existing mental health conditions, behavior problems, struggles with drugs and alcohol, and stresses that arise as part of Army service.
