The Behavioral Intervention Specialist will work in a school setting with youth who demonstrate highly behavioral needs. The Specialist will work with the team and any indentified youth to assess, develop, and implement proactive and strenghts-based behavior strategies as well as assist youth during times of crisis. They will provide a connection between the home, school and community by providing home visit (if necessary). Will promote the philosophy and mission of the agency by performaing the following duties.Duties and Respeonsibilities:
- Work with the principals and school teams on complex behavior support planning and implementation of intervention and data collection.
- Support schools with implementation and development Tier 2 and Tier 3 systems and progress monitoring teams.
- Train and follow-up with implementation to ensure accuracy and fidelity with plan implementation.
- Assist family engagement in student support.
- Complete Functional Behavior Assessments (FBA), funtion-based interventions, and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP).
- Work cooperatively with building administrators to promote positive student behavior by assisting with professional development.
- Participate in building level team and/or grade level meetings, as appropriate.
- Partcipate in proactive team efforts to achieve the district, building, departmental and/or grade level goals.
- Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.
Education/Experience:
- Minimum Bachlor's degree in Early Childhood Development, Education, Psychology or related field.
- At least 2 years' experince working in a setting with youth who demonstrate highly behaviorial needs.
