GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Behavioral Tech assists in care for newly brain injured, cognitively impaired rehabilitation patients that are confused, unable to communicate and often unable to manage the simplest of daily tasks. The Behavioral Tech assists and directs patient in activities that support the rehabilitation plan, maximizes patient and staff safety, and documents in the EMR, all according to department policies and objectives.
**JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:**
1. Daily bathing, feeding and dressing of patients in preparation for therapy
2. Daily assistance with ADL's including the education and re-education of ADL activity
3. Document shift progress and care plan notes assessing progress toward achieving individualized care plan goals; document I & O's and ability to follow a continence plan; use of bladder scanner and Foley care
4. Receive specific training from OT, PT, SLP and Rec Therapy on all types of transfers, mobility activity and safe swallowing technique; interact directly with patient during therapy sessions; employ Agitated Behavior Scale in combination with provider orders to deescalate patient behavior
5. Educate the patient's caregivers to make sure that they understand the patient care plan while hospitalized as well as the post-discharge support plan of the patient
**QUALIFICATIONS:**
+ Associates degree in Behavioral sciences required
+ Two to three years of recent experience in related patient care or two to three years of psychiatric training or minimum two years of RN nursing education; Or equivalent combination of education and experience required
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills required.
+ Ability to work independently required.
+ Innovative with patient care required.
+ Flexible in thinking and approach required.
+ CBIS (Certified Brain Injury Specialist) certification preferred;
+ Formal behavior management and de-escalation training through CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) preferred.

**Pay Range**
Pay Range: $17.64 - $23.81 Hourly
