For more information, visit hallcon.com.Job DescriptionWe are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Benefits Specialist to join our HR team. The Benefits Specialist will manage and enhance employee benefits programs, ensuring that our offerings meet the needs of our diverse workforce while complying with legal requirements. This role requires a blend of analytical skills, customer service, and in-depth knowledge of benefits administration.Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Benefits Administration: Oversee day-to-day operations of employee benefits programs, including health, dental, vision, retirement plans, and other employee perks for the various groups of employees we have. This includes corporate benefits, field hourly benefits, and union benefits. Ensure timely and accurate enrollment, changes, and terminations. Process 401(k) election changes and funding of 401(k), HSA, and FSA accounts. Complete Medical Support Orders and other legal documents as they come in.
  • Vendor Management: Communicate with benefits providers and insurance carriers. Escalate employee issues to providers when needed for assistance. Manage relationships, resolve issues, and escalate any provider performance issues to management.
  • Communication: Distribution of precise and concise information about benefits programs to employees. Provide one-on-one consultations to explain benefits options and answer questions.
  • Enrollment and Eligibility: Oversee benefits enrollment processes, including onboarding new hires, handling changes in employee status, and managing terminations. Ensure accurate documentation and verification of eligibility. Assist with Open Enrollment including testing of the system.
  • Invoice Processing: Perform invoice reconciliation to ensure proper payments are made before providing them to Finance for payment.
  • Problem Resolution: Address and resolve employee inquiries and benefits-related issues. Act as a point of contact for escalated benefits-related concerns.
  • Training: Provide training and guidance to HR staff and managers on benefits policies and procedures. Ensure they are equipped to assist employees with benefits-related questions.
  • Compliance: Assist with various compliance items including but not limited to 401(k) audits, ACA, NDT, state laws, COBRA, etc.
  • Job duties could change in the future with department restructuring
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Certifications such as a Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) are a plus.
  • Experience: 2-5 years of experience in benefits administration or a related HR role. Demonstrated experience with benefits programs, compliance, and vendor management.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of employee benefits laws and regulations.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    • Proficiency in HRIS systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
    • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Working Conditions:
  • On-site Monday through Wednesday at the Lenexa office. Remote Thursday and Friday. Initial employment training will take place in the office on Thursdays and an occasional Friday.
  • Standard working hours with some flexibility required during peak enrollment periods.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with multiple teams, preferably facilities maintenance, fleet management, and project operations management
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with multiple teams and stakeholders
  • Ability to aggregate and analyze different data sources
  • Excellent project management, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent relationship-building, collaboration, and written and verbal communication skills
