BI ANALYST

POSITION SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE

The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for performing operational, portfolio, and financial analysis, working with the Director of Investment Analytics. The primary responsibilities of this position are the creation and maintenance of models, surfacing of data through ad-hoc reporting, and the creation and ongoing maintenance of visualizations to equip stakeholders with accurate and readily available information for strategic, tactical, and investment-related decision making. This position requires cross-collaboration with a variety of business partners and therefore demands excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences. The Analyst will work closely with operators and leaders in Investments, Product, Property Management, and Construction to understand project requirements and deliver results.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and define requirements of models, reports and visualizations using interviews, project management tools, and data analysis
  • Utilize Tableau, Excel and other business intelligence tools to develop analytical content including reports, dashboards, and ad-hoc analyses and data sets
  • Codify business logic in SQL to meet reporting requirements for all business teams
  • Validate data input and reporting output to ensure accuracy, mitigate risk, and reduce errors
  • Maintain reporting as needed to account for source of truth, naming convention, or data warehouse changes
  • Participate in projects and initiatives as technical expert to surface data and information that supports solutions and equips teams for future success
  • Prepare periodic reviews of portfolio composition and market results for presentation to key stakeholders
  • Proactively explore data to surface learnings beyond defined scope of projects
  • Ensure consistency of measurement with cross-functional teams to maintain integrity of reporting

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel modeling experience
  • Tableau report power creator
  • Proficient in querying databases inside SQL Server environment
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze large volumes of raw data, draw conclusions and develop actionable recommendations
  • Clear and concise communications tailored to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Passionate, proactive, and creative problem-solving
  • Organized and transparent project management
  • Comfortable and prepared in environment with frequent multitasking and content switching
  • Intellectual curiosity to explore and deliver beyond expectations
  • Bachelors degree with focus in Finance, Real Estate, Business Management, Computer Science or any related field
  • 2+ years experience in reporting analytics, business intelligence, or comparable experience
