Bikes Not Bombs is creating a second staff position for our International Programs! We are looking to hire an International Programs Associate for a 6-month contract position that could eventually become a full-time employee. Bikes Not Bombs has recognized the huge potential to increase the scope and impact of our international work with the addition of a second staff person for International Programs. The International Programs Associate will be responsible to manage communication and the provision of technical assistance to our partners, as well as to develop a robust system to better understand and communicate our international impacts. The International Programs Associate will be supervised and supported by the International Programs Director, who is responsible for the overall International Programs strategy, administration, shipping, fundraising, and program development.

The International Programs Associate will be responsible to:

  • Organize BNB technical assistance to international partners including research and mobilization of resources, continuous email and phone communication, and co-designing with partners the technical assistance packages.
  • Follow-through on providing technical assistance to partners within the areas of project management, small business administration, organizational and systems development, accounting, leadership development, community organizing, strategic visioning and goal setting.
  • Create and administer effective systems of monitoring and evaluating BNB international impacts, including the collection of quantitative data as well as non-quantitative data, and present this data in creative reporting.
  • Support International Programs administration in areas including email and communications management, container loading/shipping logistics assistance, the development of efficient internal systems of program administration and participation in staff meetings.
  • Qualifications:
  • BA in related field (or equivalent experience/skills)
  • Experience living and working in a developing country
  • Project management or community organizing experience in an international context
  • Clear understanding of international power dynamics and sustainable development
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice and environmental sustainability
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, especially across cultures
  • Systems oriented, creative and adaptive
  • Ability to both take initiative and work as part of a team
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Excellent computer skills including Excel
  • Multi-lingual – Spanish, Haitian Kreyol, French or Arabic a plus
  • Details of the International Programs Associate Position:

    The International Programs Associate will be supervised and supported by the International Programs Director. This is a 35-40 hour a week contract position starting September 2012 for a duration of 6 months, with the potential for extension. The position will be based in Boston and may require some international travel. Compensation for the 6-month contract will be pro-rated according to 30k/year without benefits.
