The Bilingual Outreach Library Associate works to provide library resources and materials to customers facing a variety of barriers to receiving traditional library service; collaborates with the Outreach Services Team and community partners to tailor services to meet the needs of underserved and diverse populations; visits a wide variety of locations across Tulsa County including nursing homes, retirement communities, assisted living centers, Tulsa housing Authority sites, detention centers, soup kitchens, and food pantries; provides personalized readers' advisory services to Books by Mail, Delivery, and Homebound customer who may need extra assistance in selecting materials for check out; always looks for ways to improve workflow and anticipate customer needs and trends. This is a safety sensitive position. A selection of the essential functions and job qualifications include:

• Operates Outreach Services vehicles, including the Bookmobile, Reading Roadshow, and Ford Transit Delivery, and any associated equipment;
• Represents the library at community events, including parades, health fairs, block parties, back-to-school events, storytimes, and resource fairs;
• Conducts community outreach, which may include services to homebound, assisted living, and nursing home residents, to promote and support library services to residents;
• Valid Oklahoma Driver's License with an acceptable driving record and reliable transportation required.
• Bachelor's degree required;
• 6 months or more experience driving large vehicles preferred;
• Ability to speak/read/write in both Spanish and English is required; appropriate level of proficiency will be verified through an external testing source.
• Assist with maintenance and repair of vehicles and equipment; including performing vehicle checks, filling fuel tanks, and cleaning the interior and exterior of vehicles.
• Perform the following Safety Sensitive functions:
  • Operation of company owned vehicles;

Location: Outreach Services - 2901 S. Harvard Tulsa, OK. 74114Salary: $21.10/hr. Bilingual positions qualify for a pay bonus awarded quarterly throughout the year.Status: Full TimeCompetitive pay and a full benefit package (medical, dental, retirement, paid time off) are offered with this position.Schedule:Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:30 pmOccasional evenings and weekends required to accommodate community outreach events and PM route bookmobile coverage.Physical and Environmental Conditions:Physical Activity: The job requires considerable physical exertion, such as regularly lifting heavy items (up to 80 pounds) such as carts or crates full of books, on a highly frequent basis and assuming awkward positions.Work Environment: There are occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less than optimal temperature and air conditions. The job may involve dealing with modestly unpleasant situations, such as occasional exposure to office chemicals and/or extensive use of video display terminals.Travel: Routine, in-town travel using Library-owned vehicles is required.
