IntroductionMaryland 529 consists of two active savings programs, the Maryland Senator Edward J. Kasemeyer College Investment Plan and the Maryland ABLE Program. The Maryland Senator Edward J. Kasemeyer College Investment Plan is designed to help individuals and families save for college in a tax-advantaged account. The Maryland College Investment Plan offers a variety of investment options to suit account holder's future education goals. Maryland ABLE provides people with disabilities a method to save and invest without jeopardizing means tested benefits and is responsible for educating people with disabilities, their families, and other stakeholders in the disability community about the eligibility criteria, enrollment, and account management process for Maryland ABLE accounts. Redwood Street, Baltimore, MD 21202 Main Purpose of JobThe Maryland State Treasurer's Office is seeking an energetic and passionate advocate to educate and deliver information in English and/or Spanish about the Maryland College Investment Plan, with a heavy focus in outreach to Hispanic communities. This position will serve as the ambassador for Maryland 529 to market the Maryland College Investment Plan and will conduct presentations for events with an audience that speak English and/or Spanish. This position will conduct public relations activities for Maryland 529 such as participation at assigned conferences, expos, and community fairs; and will provide clear and concise presentations/information workshops for school systems, employers, and service provider agencies. This position will distribute informational or promotional Maryland 529 materials in accordance with the Maryland 529 program. This position serves as an ambassador to promote Maryland 529 programs throughout Maryland including the following counties: Baltimore City, Prince Georges, Howard, and other surrounding counties. This is a contractual, part-time position limited to 300 hours per year within the State Treasurer's Office. The incumbent will receive the schedule for conferences, and outreach activities in advance. Hours will vary depending on the set activities per month.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSExperience: Six years of experience in public information, public relations, journalism or other related experience in publicity or promotional work. Notes: 1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with at least 30 semester credit hours in one or more of the following subjects: English, journalism, public relations, writing or other similar and related areas of study and two years of experience in public information, public relations, journalism or other related experience in publicity or promotional work for the required experience. 2. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in public affairs specialist classification or public affairs specialty codes in the information and arts field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience presenting in both large and small groups in English and Spanish.
- Experience as an ambassador for a program, company, or product.
