Bilingual PK Long-Term Substitute Teacher

Position Reports To: Brittany Gourdine, Principal

Compensation and Benefit

Long-Term Sub

* Non-degreed daily rate: $135/day

* Degreed daily rate: $155/day

* Certified Teacher daily rate: $165/day

Required

* Minimum High School Degree

* Can pass a criminal background check

Highly Preferred

* Spanish/English Bilingual Proficiency

* Have at least 48 college credits or one year of experience working with children.

Your Mission

As a Substitute Teacher, when a teacher is out, it is your responsibility to provide instruction, foster a restorative justice approach to classroom management, and encourage student progress. Ensuring student safety is one of your top priorities. If you've thought about teaching, this role can prepare you for success in the classroom working alongside high-performing teachers. We are committed to creating an environment where you are part of the Compass Rose Team and are given opportunities to learn, develop, and grow into future classroom teachers or Teacher Fellows. We also welcome any veteran or retired teachers who want to remain close to the classroom action but have flexible work schedules.

Your Responsibilities

* Arrives and leaves on time

* Attend any required training for Compass Rose Substitute Teachers

* Adhere to the curriculum and lesson plans assigned by the classroom teacher

* Follow procedures and achieve lesson goals

* Assign and explain homework

* Oversee students outside of the classroom including in the hallways and cafeteria and for morning or after-school duty

* Comply with all school regulations and policies at all times

* Take attendance and document daily notes

* Ensure classroom and work is kept clean and orderly

* Oversee the normal classroom rhythms and activities

* Compile a report for the teacher upon their return

* Receive feedback from school leaders or other teachers on the campus to help provide the safest and most productive environment for students

* Follows professional practices and regulations consistent with Compass Rose values, practices, and policies in working with students, students' records, parents, and colleagues

* Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Maintains reasonable rules of conduct that encourage self-discipline and responsibility. Communicates effectively with parents when needed
