About the RoleThe Interventionist is a dedicated and goal-oriented professional with excellent subject knowledge and a sound understanding of the New York State Learning Standards and Common Core State Standards. The Interventionist will provide direct instruction to small groups and intervention for students who require specific instruction for their content and language development (English and/or Spanish) and content. In close coordination with the principal, instructional coach, classroom teachers, and special educators, the Interventionist will help students gain fluency and confidence with foundational concepts and skills. As a key contributor to the school's RTI system, the Interventionist will administer screenings and assessments; deliver Tier II and Tier III interventions; monitor student progress; contribute to shared data systems, and attend data meetings. Position Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver targeted lessons and practice sessions with students, in-class or as pull-out sessions.
  • Coordinate with classroom teachers on lesson planning; checks for understanding; differentiation; and behavior management.
  • Actively participates in the deliberations and classification of MLL students.
  • Maintains confidential records on all referred students and student/parent contacts in accordance with federal and state law, Board policy, and the procedure of the school's Dual Language/MLL education program.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary team meetings, IEP meetings, MTSS, and any other meetings pertaining to student achievement
  • Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of MLL students. Teach English language development/ and core content to assigned students.
  • Consistently progress monitors students' growth by collecting and analyzing data to plan targeted teaching groups.
  • Make provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside of the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  • Act in a professional and ethical manner at all times and comply with school policies, procedures, and expectations.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by their supervisor.

CompensationThe starting compensation for this role is between $65,000.00 to $80,000.00 per year. The starting salary will depend on multiple factors including professional experience, education, and certifications. This role is a full-time position.Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and at least 1-3 years of elementary teaching experience working with MLL students with measurable results.
  • Valid NYS Teaching Certification or currently on the pathway to certification required.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish languages.
  • Firm commitment to student academic progress.
