Job DetailsJob LocationMilwaukee Public Museum - Milwaukee, WIPosition TypeFull TimeSalary Range$18.50 - $19.50 HourlyDescriptionThe Milwaukee Public Museum (MPM)is hiring for a full-time preferably, Bilingual (Spanish) Museum Educator that will work to focus on developing and delivering museum programming. This position also develops programming that is topical and relevant and of interest to people in our community and in alignment with the mission of MPM, which is to inspire curiosity, excite minds, and increase desire to preserve and protect our world's natural and cultural diversity through exhibitions, educational programming, collections and research. In this role you will be using our museum collections in developing partnerships and integrating techniques to maximize visitor engagement across the broad demographic represented in our community. Additionally, this position works closely with and provides support for our talented team of educators and is part of a team that includes professional staff, volunteers, students and community members.In this role you will:
- Research, develop, support, and deliver museum programs and engagements in person on the exhibit floors, in the community, or remotely via pre-recorded video, video-conferencing, or other technology responsive to the interests of the public and are aligned with the institution's mission and strategic goals
- Create, sustain, and/or expand program partnerships that strengthen the museum's position in the community
- Work with multigenerational audiences across diverse suites of museum educational programs including providing specialized support for Accessibility Programs
- Serve as an internal resource to review translated (Spanish) materials and modify for programmatic use when needed to best serve target audiences
You will be successful in this role if you:
- Preferably are bilingual in English and Spanish, including the ability to read in both languages
- *This position is eligible for an extra $1,00 per hour compensation upon successful passing of a Spanish language test
- Possess an Associates Degree or higher in education or other museum-related disciplines
- Have 1-3 years experience as an educator in a classroom or non-classroom setting
- Are willing to commit to the mission and values of a non-profit organization
- Possess a genuine interest in working towards a common goal to advance sustainability, inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility in all of our work
- Would thrive working in a department that is multifaceted and highly collaborative
- Find motivation in delivering reimagined programming in a way that inspires curiosity and makes learning come to life
Additional Requirements:
- Valid driver's license that meets MPM's driving policy requirements
- Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes weekends and evenings
