If you're passionate about education, committed to equity, and eager to make a meaningful impact, this is your chance to inspire young minds and support their growth.About the Role:We are hiring a dedicated bilingual (English and Spanish) in-person tutor to provide small-group academic support to high school English Language Learner (ELL) students across various subjects at Port Richmond High School. In this role, you will collaborate with classroom teachers to deliver personalized instruction that helps students build their skills, enhance their confidence, and achieve academic success. While expertise in all subject areas is not required, fluency in both Spanish and English is essential to assist students with vocabulary, literacy, and subject-specific language needs effectively.What You'll Do:
  • Work closely with teachers and school leaders to deliver targeted, culturally responsive support in high school subject areas (Math/Science/ELA/Social Studies).
  • Engage small groups of students, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.
  • Foster a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity and resilience.
  • Be a valued part of a team dedicated to transforming educational outcomes in underserved communities.
Schedule:
  • Days: Monday - Friday
  • Time: 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM
  • Duration: January 13th, 2025 - June 13th, 2025 (excluding holidays and school conferences)
  • Key Dates Off:
    • January 20: Martin Luther King Jr. Day
    • January 27: Professional Development Day (no students)
    • January 29: Lunar New Year
    • February 17-21: Midwinter Recess
    • March 21: High School 6-12 Parent-Teacher Conferences (3-hour early dismissal)
    • March 31: Eid al-Fitr
    • April 14-18: Spring Recess
    • May 26: Memorial Day
    • June 5: Anniversary Day
What We're Looking For:
  • Experience: Prior experience tutoring or teaching high school level subjects.
  • Bilingual Skills: Fluent in English and Spanish, with the ability to provide academic support in both languages.
  • Team Player: Collaborative spirit and a desire to work closely with teachers and students.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to connect effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Passion: A commitment to educational equity and social justice for minority and low-income students.
  • Availability: Must be able to work the specified schedule consistently.
