JOB DESCRIPTIONHandle all functions related to Patient Billing including: authorization of benefits acquisition of all necessary claim documentation claim submission collections follow through on outstanding claims and cash applications all actions relating to delinquent accounts, collections agencies, special adjustments, and/or write offs Responsibilities: • Collect all the information necessary to work with insurance claims and patient billing. • Research, correct, and re-submit rejected and denied claims. • Research, administer and resolve any billing discrepancies; resubmit rejected and denied claims if necessary. Works with payers to resolve outstanding claims issues. Ensures the resolution of any collections issues for self-pay balances. • Ensure patient demographic and insurance information is input correctly into the Athena billing system. • Ensure patient encounter information is input and coded correctly. • Bill patients for their responsible portions of claim. • Answer patient questions regarding charges. • Prepare appeals to denied claims. • Understand Copays, Coinsurance, & Deductibles. Requirements: • Strong math and data entry skills. • Knowledge of insurance process, medical terminology and coding. • Knowledge/experience working with billing and payment cycles for medical accounts. • Solid experience working with Medicare/Medicaid, private Insurance, and insurance verification, authorization and reimbursement. • Strong organizational, problem solving and analytical skills. • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel), spreadsheets and medical billing software.
