Billing CoordinatorDepartment: Office Staff Employment Type: Part Time Location: Attendant Care Companies Description The Billing Coordinator works directly with insurance companies including commercial payers and county community mental health plans in Michigan. The billing coordinator works closely with the ABA Billing Supervisor and other Billing Coordinators. Key Responsibilities
- Coordinates the process of consumer eligibility and authorizations through various third party sources.
- Prepares and submits clean claims to third party payers either electronically or by paper accurately and in a timely fashion.
- Handles and addresses any consumer billing inquiries with consumers.
- Identifies and resolves consumer billing problems with consumer or third party payers.
- Manages, tracks and coordinates the collection process with consumers to ensure appropriate collection of consumer fees.
- Issues adjusted, corrected, and/or rebilled claims to third party payers.
- Posts adjustments, transfer of responsibility and refunds, as necessary.
- Assure coding is compliant and up to date.
- Provides monthly billing and collection summaries
- Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
- Adhering to the company's attendance policy and understanding the importance of coming to work on time and being prepared.
- Responds to emails in a timely manner including weekly update messages and communications from the scheduling team, human resource department and from the leadership team.
- Contributing team member of Attendant Care by following and implementing company-wide policies, procedures, and initiatives.
Skills, Knowledge and ExpertiseExperience: Required: Minimum of one year of knowledge about Medicaid and medical billing processes, as well as laws, regulations and guidelines for Medicaid Preferred: Minimum of five years of experience of prior billing in a health-care setting Education: Required: High School Diploma or equivalent Preferred: Associate's or Bachelor's degree Licenses:Valid State of Michigan's Driver's License and current auto insurance Additional Requirements: Ability to deliver ideas, thoughts, concerns and praise verbally and/or in writing. Enjoys working within a team environment Ability to handle stress and be flexible and adaptable. Must be able to work non-standard, flexible hours.
