Job Description The Billing Coordinator, working under minimal supervision, will be responsible for the accurate and timely entry, review, and distribution of customer invoices and deposits. The Billing Coordinator will be capable of handling complex customer structures and billing entities. The Billing Coordinator must be able to navigate the billing for multiple business segments with the ability to understand various systems and processes. QualificationsEssential Job Responsibilities
- Input and review of invoices with appropriate review and pre-audit before invoice generation. Data entry for many line items with acute attention to detail.
- Perform batch processes. Review and reconcile systemic bills for accuracy with the ability to troubleshoot errors from inception to resolution.
- Apply deposits to customer accounts, requiring a high level of accuracy and attention to detail particularly as it relates to short payment applications. Appropriately communicate problems and short payments to the collections team.
- Analyze billing data at a macro level to identify and troubleshoot problems.
- Reconcile billing records and research discrepancies from various sources.
- Maintain both electronic and hard-copy files, as needed with a high level of organization.
- Process general ledger journals including accruals for month-end close.
- Ability to document processes and communicate with both internal and external customers.

Supervisory Responsibilities None Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience
- An Associate's degree or equivalent.
- Three or more years of experience in a business environment, preferably in a billing or collections capacity.
- Experience with financial systems.
- A valid South Carolina driver's license is required to operate a Ports Authority-owned licensed motor vehicle.

- Must be detail-oriented, organized, and proficient in data entry and analysis.
- Must be able to multi-task and be proactive with deadlines.
- Must have intermediate-level Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to perform pivot tables, and lookups and understand how to analyze large amounts of data.
- Must be able to understand and navigate multiple systems including yard management, billing, and financial systems.
- Must be able to review contract documents and interpret billing terms.
Preferred Qualifications
- A degree in Business Administration or Accounting is desirable.
- Query-writing skills with SQL or another language, as applicable.
- Background in shipping or logistics.

- Vision is required to analyze and process various forms and documents utilized within the framework of performing assigned tasks.

- Ability to operate a computer keyboard and view a computer monitor screen.
