The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a thorough understanding of billing processes within a fast-paced environment. Your initial responsibilities (first six to nine months) will be to assist with the onboarding of a new billing system and during this phase you will learn our specialized billing process by taking responsibility for billing a range of specific customers. Once the new system is operational, this position will be responsible for building and then managing a team of billing specialists, guiding them to meet deadlines while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy. This position requires excellent organizational skills, an analytical mindset, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments. You will be responsible for developing and implementing billing policies and procedures to improve efficiency and resolve customer billing inquiries promptly. - Supervise and lead the billing team to ensure productivity and efficiency.
- Oversee the billing cycle, including invoice generation and payment processing.
- Accurately calculate postage for all shipments to be invoiced based on billed rates, weight, dimensions, and destination. Utilize billed rates and excel to calculate and apply appropriate postage to shipments.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies during billing procedures.
- Analyze billing data to identify areas for improvement and implement best practices.
- Resolve customer billing inquiries and disputes in a timely manner.
- Follow up with customers on past due invoices, using effective communication and negotiation skills to resolve outstanding balances.
- Prepare and present regular reports on billing activities and team performance.
- Collaborate with finance and accounting departments to streamline financial processes.
QualificationsRequirements
- Proven experience as a Billing Supervisor or similar role in a financial setting.
- Deep knowledge of advanced Microsoft Excel functions and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
- Strong knowledge of billing software and accounting principles.
- Excellent leadership skills to manage and motivate a team effectively.
- Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy in financial documentation.
- Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently
Educational / Experience Requirement:
- Associates degree in accounting finance, business administration, related filed or a combination of education and work experience
- 7-10 years' experience with 3 years' experience in a supervisory capacity.
- Billing/Accounting Certifications a plus
