Job Summary
The Billing Representative is the first person that customers interact with when calling Safety Insurance with billing and payment questions. The Billing Representative uses information from the company's database and knowledge of company products and procedures to answer questions.
Duties
* Utilize effective listening skills, patience, and empathy to provide the best possible service experience to our callers.
* Provides accurate information and assists callers with basic inquiries regarding their billing and policy status.
* Adjusts or changes individual payment terms as needed.
* Obtains necessary documentation from caller if research is required.
* Provides pertinent information to the Billing Analyst for further research on complex billing problems.
* Processes special reinstatements for agents as needed.
* Facilitates changes to direct bill accounts as needed.
* Documents unusual or problematic telephone calls in notepad.
* Performs other duties and/or projects as needed or required.
Qualifications
* College degree or insurance course work/experience desired.
* Previous experience accounting/billing insurance experience desired.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
* Detail oriented, able to plan and multitask effectively.
* Microsoft Office knowledge a plus.
* Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
* Exceptional telephone communications and interpersonal skills.
* Bilingual in Spanish or Portuguese a plus.
