ABOUT THE ROLE: Under the direction of the Controller/Director of Finance and CFO, the Billing Specialist will be responsible for assisting the Billing Coordinator in overseeing collections, billing, cash posting, and refunds. SCHEDULE AND COMPENSATION:
  • On-site position, Monday-Friday
  • $22.00-$25.00 per hour. Full-time/Hourly/Non-Exempt position. Salary based on skills and experience.
  • Up to 6% annual bonus eligibility.

A TYPICAL DAY FOR YOU AT HH:
  • Assist in conducting weekly/monthly reviews and reporting on cash collections, payment posting, accounts receivable reviews and credit balance resolution.
  • Assist in applying cash receipts accurately.
  • Assist in generating and reconcile billing activity.
  • Assist in submitting billing to the State of Illinois, Department of Human Services accurately and timely.
  • Assist in processing claims for Medicare, Medicaid, HMO's and PPO's, and all other private insurances.
  • Assist in maintaining the client billing system ensuring all client information is updated.
  • Assist in initiating, complete and process payer credentials for new and existing provides.
  • Work with the Billing Coordinator in communicating with direct care staff the eligibility requirements and insurance authorizations.
  • Assist in preparing reports as required by governmental agencies.
  • Assist in preparing daily/weekly/monthly reports to management.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of the system of internal controls for the entire claims cycle.
  • Assist in developing policies and procedures as needed to improve operational efficiencies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QualificationsLAND THIS OPPORTUNITY BY HAVING: Education:
  • Associate degree from an accredited college or technical school.
Experience:
  • 5 years of related experience and/or training may be accepted in place of Associate Degree.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be accepted.
Skill Sets:
  • Ability to process and maintain confidential information and to properly document information.
  • Ability to comply with all federal, state, and local regulatory guidelines and laws.
  • Ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles as applicable.
  • The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities both independently and as part of a team.
  • The ability to build and maintain confidence and credibility with all clients and employees.
  • This position at times will utilize data protected under HIPAA.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to promote and adhere to company values.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • The person in this position needs to occasionally move about to assist other team members, access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • The ability to observe details at a close range (within a few feet of the observer).
  • Consistently position self to maintain files in file cabinets or assist clients/students.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
