Job Responsibilities and Requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Billing Support Analyst is responsible for responding to various policyholder billing inquiries and for researching and correcting payment imbalances. This includes daily systems transactions to update policyholder coverage or demographic data, as well as the research, resolution, and response necessary to address policyholder billing concerns such as statement clarification or billing discrepancies.

Policyholder Services

* Edits and updates policyholder related changes such as demographics and wages.

* Reviews and handles new daily suspense items.

* Resolves policyholder inquiries and complaints regarding billing issues received from policyholders and brokers in a timely and professional manner.

* Adheres to a strict follow up process to obtain information and/or balances due. Heavy email and phone usage.

* Partners with other internal departments, particularly Underwriting and Policy Services, as needed.

* Required to record detailed policy notes in PolicyNet system.

* Required to store all supporting documentation to policy files in the DocuWare system.

* Provides education, guidance, and support to on-line clients with respect to premium remittance on-line.

* Works in collaboration with Administrative Service Rep as pertain to check that require attention.

* Assists with/fills in for Administrative Service Rep I position, as needed.

Projects

* Supports various projects as assigned by management.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Related Experience

* High School Diploma or equivalent required. Associates Degree in the area of Business Administration, Risk Management, Human Resources, or related field preferred.

* Minimum of two years related employee benefits (or related) experience is required. Prior experience in a high volume premium processing and billing operation experience preferred.

* Strong interpersonal relationship, problem solving and customer service skills.

* Ability to research, analyze, and reconcile billing issues and basic mathematical skills.

* Knowledge of disability product offerings, contractual requirements and policy specific plan designs required.

* Ability to be well organized, accurate, detail oriented and effectively manage time required.

* Professional business demeanor and the ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial capacity with minimal supervision are required.

* Must have a high degree of flexibility and a willingness to get involved and perform detailed and diversified duties when special situations arise (i.e., projects, coordinate activity for special policies, address Customer Service issues, etc)

* Must work well in a multi-task, team- focused environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Sitting for prolonged periods of time, frequently standing, walking distances up to one mile, bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, occasionally lifting 25lbs, extensive typing, picking up and holding small objecting and otherwise using primarily the fingers rather than the entire hand. Employee is required to have visual acuity sufficient to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing notes; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading. Employee is required to have hearing sufficient to understand verbal instruction and answer telephones. Hiring Range: $$21.56 - $$26.95 Hourly

* The hiring range listed in this posting represents the expected hiring range for work performed in the primary location (New York, NY). If this role is eligible for remote work, or will report to a different office than the one listed above, the hiring range may differ.

Work location may be flexible if approved by the Company.
