BIM COORDINATOROverview:The Design and Fabrication BIM Coordinator is responsible for development and coordination of project documents for construction and/or prefabrication including design assistance and construction document modifications as well as BIM model design and coordination. This position also requires assisting with scheduling and sequencing of preconstruction activities involving components such as design modifications and converting designs into prefabrication drawings. BIM Coordinators may also be required to visit job sites to manage any issues or conflicts that relate to design and fabrication.These responsibilities will be carried out across all six offices including associated travel to office and job site locations.Typical duties include, but are not limited to:
- Meet with Project Managers, review new projects and assist in coordinating any design changes and prefabrication opportunities.
- Attend all necessary project meetings and perform site visits as required for design and fabrication assistance.
- Provide project design and/or redesign including Revit, CAD, Inventor drawings, trade coordination, and project specific spool/detail drawings, including managing project files both internally and/or at a project-specific sites.
- Assist with Design software and hardware maintenance including, but not limited to, annual and third-party upgrades, software deployments, field solutions, hardware analysis, O'Connell Electric design standards, template creations, file management, etc.
- Assist with creation of common prefabrication assemblies including, but not limited to, families/parts/blocks, associated drawings and documents.
- Assist with coordination and use of a Trimble Station System and similar field layout tools and when required, visit job sites to operate Total Station.
- Review contract documents in detail to understand the full job scope.
- Assist with developing project schedule, plan, and job coordination, including understanding job numbers, cost codes, labor, and material.
- Identify value engineering opportunities that may help both the client and O'Connell Electric.
- Maintain excellent record keeping practices, ensuring service requests are documented properly.
- Document and maintain request for information (RFI) logs and corresponding responses.
- Stay current with local laws and codes that may affect design and fabrication requirements.
- Support our strong safety culture, ensuring that safe work practices are always followed on job sites and in our prefabrication shop.
- Assist Project Managers as needed.
Requirements
- One to five years' experience with BIM
- Understanding of BIM/VDC workflows and methods
- Ability to perform well within strict deadlines to meet project schedules
- Possess a self-motivated mindset
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work both independently and within a collaborative/team atmosphere
- Software experience including AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks and Revit MEP
- Knowledge of BlueBeam and MS Office programs
Compensation:The minimum and maximum hourly rate of pay that O'Connell Electric Company, Inc. believes in good faith to be accurate for this position at the time of this posting is between $60,500 to $77,864 annually.It is important to O'Connell Electric that potential candidates for this position understand that compensation depends on numerous factors including the geographic location where the role will be performed, skills required, experience, complexity, travel, and market rate.
