Job Description:
Summary: As a Building Information Modeling Coordinator at Tropic, you will be responsible for advanced modeling and creating working shop drawings that will be used to support shop fabrication and field installation on various construction projects. Coordination of drawings and working closely with assigned Project Managers, Vendors, Engineers, and Field Personnel will be essential for this position. You will use Autodesk software for design and various 3rd party software where applicable. Responsibilities: Coordinate all aspects of mechanical scope, including but not limited to HVAC systems, structural framing and openings for mechanical systems, impact of other trades (e.g. fire protection, electrical, plumbing, structural, architectural, etc.), and incorporate specification requirements and submittal data. Participate in coordination meetings and interact with the general contractor, other trades, and/or project engineers. Model Review and Analysis: Carefully examine the Designer's LOD 200 model for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to project standards. Model Detailing and Enrichment (LOD 350-400): Transforming the designer's conceptual model into a detailed, construction-ready model by adding critical information such as precise dimensions, specific materials, and fabrication requirements. Support Tropic BIM Standards : Adhere to and enforce company and project-specific BIM standards and workflows. Model Validation QA/QC: Verifying the model's accuracy and completeness through quality control checks. Conduct Internal clash detection using Navisworks or similar software and work with stakeholders to resolve conflicts throughout the life of the project. Resolving issues related to plans and specifications by interacting with architects, subcontractors, consultants, suppliers, inspectors, general contractors and owner's representatives. Managing coordination models and model-based submittals and shop drawings. Assessing conformance to contract specifications. Preparing final records such as as-built models which may include connections to project data such as operation and maintenance manuals and as-built documentation. Producing the turnover model file with associated documents for the Owner if required for the project. Establishes drawings and document format required to complete job. Understands and complies with job specific scope and requirements. Generates concise Request For Information (RFIs) or field questions when questions or discrepancies arise on contract drawings or specifications. Verifies that all drawings are complete to a constructible state. Modifies drawings as changes occur and expedite changes to field & Create accurate Record Drawings from red-lined markups. Additionally: Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and clients to understand project goals and requirements. Ensure compliance with building codes, industry standards, and environmental regulations in all HVAC designs and proposals. Works in conformity with company Pipe and CAD Standards and detailing practices. Communicates with Project Supervision to determine detailed scope. Assists project staff with drawing requirements and priorities. Participates in internal project coordination efforts and coordinates changes into drawings. Qualifications: Good communication and organizational skills. An associate degree in design/drafting or equivalent work experience. Minimum 3-5 years work experience in commercial Piping and/ or HVAC piping. Proficiency with software tools including AutoCAD MEP, Navisworks, Revit, Trimble, Sysque, Evolve, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and other related 3D detailing software tools. Have understanding on how to produce spool drawings for pre-fabrication. Must understand HVAC including but not limited to chilled piping systems, reverse returns loops, steam systems, high pressure duct systems, Heating hot water systems. Familiar with AHCA facility requirements as related to HVAC. Requires knowledge of piping and ductwork best practices. Demonstrates and displays honesty, integrity, and personal accountability. Has proficiency or shows willingness and initiative to learn advanced BIM tools Physical Requirements Must be able to walk, stand, sit, stoop, kneel, climb stairs, reach overhead, push, pull, lift and carry up to 30 lbs., must have dexterity of fingers (or mechanical substitutions).
