Job Description1. Maintains supplies and medications according to departmental requirements and notifies supervisor when supplies are low2. Cleans, disinfects, orders/stocks and maintains anesthesia equipment and supplies.3. Cleans, organizes and maintains anesthesia workroom, supplies and equipment.4. Prepares and maintains patient monitoring devices and anesthesia delivery systems.5. Performs basic troubleshooting for monitors and equipment and reports defective equipment and equipment malfunctions appropriately and immediately.6. Ensures that Blue Bin par of anesthesia supplies meet the needs of the anesthesia department.7. Maintains accurate records of requisitions and invoices.8. Make rounds to operating rooms (OR and L&D) and Endoscopy, to collect contaminated equipment and delivers to CSS.9. Decontaminates, assembles and prepares anesthesia equipment.10. Delivers anesthesia equipment and supplies to operating rooms (OR and L&D) and Endoscopy as needed.11. Maintains records of all equipment for the department.12. Completes all other job related functions as required.13. Fosters the cultural change process by actively supporting new employees.14. Seeks out and values new employee input and feedback for improvement of patient safety and care.15. Seeks feedback from anesthesiologists, CRNAs and nurses regarding performance.16. Ensures that customer service goals are met.
Minimum Qualifications1. Associate Degree, which included courses in the bio-medical technician field, and two years experience in the appropriate bio-medical technician field in an approved hospital or health facility; or, 2. Senior high school graduation or possession of an Equivalency Diploma, and three years experience in the appropriate bio-medical technician field in an approved hospital or health facility; or, 3. A satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience. 4. Employees performing blood analysis require certificates of qualification issued by the New York City Department of Health in subspecialty of 29 (Ph blood gases) or specialty 28 (general clinical chemistry). Note: Effective January 1, 2015, employees performing central service functions, while serving in the Group 12 title of Bio-Medical Equipment Technician (215620), must either possess valid certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) issued by the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management or as a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) issued by the Certifying Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, or be grandfathered. Grandfathering requires that employees provide evidence that they have been employed in a healthcare facility for a cumulative period of one (1) year occurring between January 1, 2011 and December 31, 2014 and that they have competently performed central service functions during the course of their qualifying experience and will continue to be able to competently perform such functions during the course of their employment at HHC.
