Essential Job Duties and Functions: - Data Analysis and Interpretation: Utilize bioinformatics tools and techniques to analyze large-scale biological datasets, including proteomic and metabolomic data.
- Statistical Modeling: Develop and apply statistical models to identify patterns, trends, and significant biological findings.
- Algorithm Development: Collaborate with researchers to design and implement computational algorithms for specific biological problems.
- Visualization and Communication: Create clear and informative visualizations of data and explanations of methods to communicate findings effectively.
- Collaboration: Work closely with biologists, biochemists, and other scientists to address research questions and interpret results.
Required Education, Experience and Skills: - Bachelor's degree in a bioinformatics field (bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, or similar) or a Bachelor's degree in a biological sciences field (biochemistry, molecular biology, or similar); master's degree preferred.
- 2+ years of industry experience in bioinformatics role
- Strong understanding of concepts and principles in biology and statistics
- Demonstrated ability to produce effective visualizations
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with programming languages, particularly Python, is preferred.
- Experience working with advanced statistical and machine learning tools
- Experience with specific bioinformatics techniques or tools (e.g., feature selection and network analysis)
- Publications in peer-reviewed journals.
