We work with some of the top research organizations and facilities in the country including multiple institutes at the National Institutes of Health (NIH).OverviewAxle is seeking a highly ambitious, adaptable, structured, and detail-oriented Biologist to join our vibrant team at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), Vaccine Research Center (VRC), Pandemic Repository through Microbial and Immune Surveillance and Epidemiology (PREMISE). Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of cell biology techniques including cell culture, cloning, binding, and cell-based assays using high-throughput modalities and flow cytometry.
- Perform a wide range of molecular biology techniques including qPCR, DNA/RNA analysis,
- DNA/RNA isolation and purification, next generation (Illumina) sequencing, transfection, and gene cloning.
- Conduct research including planning and conducting experiments and data analysis.
- Integrate research findings into existing bioinformatics workflows.
- Develop, troubleshoot, and adjust scientific methodology to correct problems and deficiencies in a research project or experiment.
- Maintain accurate, daily records of experiments.
- Organize daily workload based on priorities, rotation schedule and needs of the laboratory.
- Use a wide variety of laboratory information systems, statistical methods, and computer programs to collect, organize, and analyze data for reporting of verified results.
- Independently analyze and discuss the interpretation, reliability, and validity of test data.
- Communicate and consult effectively with PREMISE and laboratory staff.
Experience Required / Requirements
- Masters degree in molecular biology and/or cell biology or related field is required.
- Minimum of two (2) or more years of laboratory experience in a research or industry setting is required.
- Proficient in Microsoft work, PowerPoint, Prism and Excel at a minimum.
- Familiarity with GLP or GMP and GCLP.
- Ability to follow standard testing methods.
- Flow cytometry experience desired.
- Experience with automatic liquid handlers.
