- Perform record keeping functions in the areas of attendance and student performance, including student learning outcomes, in an accurate and timely manner.
- Advise students in AA, AS degree programs.
- Maintain mastery and currency in the Biology field.
- Maintain safe and orderly laboratory spaces, and ensure the proper maintenance and usage of laboratory equipment.
- Maintain laboratory supply inventory and work with Dean of Arts and Sciences and other biology faculty members to ensure adequate supplies are available for all biology courses.
- Market, recruit, and retain students in all college transfer programs.
- Ensure compliance and confidentiality with all policies and procedures of the College, NC Community College System, and applicable State and Federal agencies.
Additionally
- Participate in a wide variety of extra-curricula committee and campus support functions to include: scholarships, grants, campus marketing, accreditation, inter-institutional and system cooperative programs.
- Program planning and support of Institutional Effectiveness plan.
- Maintain positive working relationships with all college employees while at the same time demonstrating sensitivity to and respect for a diverse population.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Note: This is a 9 month position Qualifications EducationMust have a Master of Science degree in Biology or a master's degree in a closely related field with 18 graduate hours in Biology.ExperiencePrevious teaching experience and the proven ability to work in an environment in which change is a highly valued cultural characteristic is required. A minimum of two years of teaching experience is preferred. Must be able to demonstrate through education and/or experience the skills necessary to teach developmental and curriculum level General Biology, Microbiology, and Anatomy & Physiology.Skills and the Know-How
