JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:The Pennsylvania State University, College of Health and Human Development, Department of Recreation, Park, and Tourism Management, and Department of Kinesiology seek an Assistant Teaching Professor to begin Fall 2025. This is a 36-week full-time, non-tenureline, term faculty appointment, with reappointment expected. The ideal candidate will be responsible for conducting relevant research within the Suzy and Jim Broadhurst Golf Teaching and Research Center (GTRC), along with teaching undergraduate and graduate-level biomechanics classes within the Department of Kinesiology and the newly forming Masters of Human Performance.The College of Health and Human Development offers a robust program of eight interdisciplinary programs that share one common goal: enriching the lives of others. We look to be an international leader by providing research, teaching, and service activities that advance the intellectual and professional development of graduate and undergraduate students while also promoting healthy living and quality of life for individuals, families, and communities.Primary job responsibilities of this position include:Serve as the primary golf biomechanics expert in the GTRC.Conduct high-quality golf biomechanics research, focusing on publications and industry presentations.Teach courses in biomechanics within the Department of Kinesiology and the newly forming Masters of Human Performance.Forge interdisciplinary collaborations both within Penn State and with external industry partners.Provide service to the department, college, and university, as well as to their profession.Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or terminal degree at the time of hire. A degree in biomechanics or a closely related field is required. Evidence of an active and focused research program is expected. Preference will be given to individuals who have a focused line of research in biomechanics and a record of publication. Applicants should be able to display evidence of engaged learning practices inside and outside the classroom.
