Job Description - Biomed Engineering Tech III (240001UU)DescriptionThe Biomed Engineering Tech III will provide preventive maintenance inspection on medical equipment to meet regulatory and department goals. Will regularly visit and work with customers within the hospital to assure the medical equipment is meeting the needs of the department. Operate Test Equipment necessary to perform inspection and preventive maintenance. Read, follow, and understand manufacturer schematics to repair medical equipment. Provide repairand maintenance of medical equipment. Troubleshoot problems, provide customer with communication as to status, document the work, and follow through in a timely manner. Participate in various levels of medical equipment Selection, Installation, Setup, and Disposition of the medical equipment. Monitor and evaluate the quality of service and documentation provided by manufacturers and third-party service groups. Assist in the development and update of the Medical Equipment Management Plan and contribute to a determination of the level of inspection and preventive maintenance required by each type of device. Consistently engage in special projects (through the selection, installation, adaption, design, modification, or disposition of medical equipment). Demonstrates project leadership abilities (independently) to manage the process through a timeline, communicate status, and follow through on commitments.Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 2 year vocational/technical program or AA degree equivalent in a related field required.
- 3 - 6 years of experience inspecting, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing medical equipment, including:
- Physiologic monitors, various styles of infusion/feeding pumps, electrocardiographs, blood pressure monitors, infant incubators, electric beds, nurse call systems, cribs, sterilizers, OR lights, OR tables, radiant warmers, electrosurgical units, defibrillator monitors, patient scales, hypo/hyperthermia equipment, physical therapy equipment, and clinical laboratory equipment.
- 3+ years experience troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing specialized medical equipment:
- Anesthesia instruments, hemodialysis units, ventilators, advanced cardiac catheterization monitoring, lasers, heart-lung bypass machines, Ultrasound, clinical laboratory analyzers, and/or radiologic equipment.Functional Accountabilities
- Repair Medical Equipment: Troubleshoot and repair complex electronic and electromechanical biomedical equipment to subassembly level.
- Provide on-call coverage as assigned to ensure 24-hour emergency coverage for the hospital.Prepares Purchase Orders:
- Prepare purchase order requests for repair parts, including vendor selection.
- Follow up and ensure parts have been delivered and installed.Customer Service:
- Routinely contact requestor regarding assigned work order to notify receipt and estimated time of arrival.
- Communicate to requestor steps to complete work order and provide any follow-up information.
- Represent the engineering staff in a professional and helpful manner.
- When necessary, routinely follow-up with manager to communicate or request assistance in order to complete work orders.Team & Work Relations:

- Assist new team members with general information when necessary.
