The Scientific Medical Instrumentation Center at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Biomedical Engineer. The successful candidate will: Perform repairs, preventive maintenance, and calibrations on general-use instrumentation. Perform acceptance testing on general-use instrumentation. Assist with modifications of instrumentation, with supervision. Construct and test prototypes of electronic and electromechanical apparatus. Collect information and prepares orders for parts and supplies for purchase. Write work reports, prepare drawings, parts, lists, and other technical documentation, maintaining current personal technical laboratory workbook and necessary records relating to workflow/ assignment status. Interface with clinical staff and equipment users. Assist in the development, writing, or modification of test procedures. Communicate with vendors, manufacturers, or manufacturer representatives.
