We hold ourselves to the highest quality standards and ethical behavior and integrity.

Position Overview:

We're seeking a highly motivated and skilled Biosensor Scientist to join our dynamic team. As a Biosensor Scientist, your primary focus will be on the integration of biology with bioFET devices. You will be at the forefront of developing and optimizing our cutting-edge technology platform for in vitro diagnostic applications. Your responsibilities will include the development and characterization of deposition methods for protein/antibodies, nucleic acids, small molecules, etc., the functional evaluation of deposited analytes, and the screening of novel assays. Your work will be instrumental in maximizing detection sensitivity and specificity for various targets, and you will play a key role in driving the commercialization of rapid, near-patient, point-of-care in vitro diagnostic solutions leveraging groundbreaking bioFET technology.

Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Surface Coupling/Attachment and Characterization

  • Develop methods to successfully deposit biological materials onto model biosensor surfaces to enable specific and sensitive detection of target analytes.
  • Characterize and optimize surface chemistry and functionalization techniques, including labeled and label-free biosensor technologies for signal amplification and ensure stable and reproducible biosensor performance. This includes the operation, maintenance, and ownership of appropriate tools used in such processes and methods.
  • Concisely summarize and interpret the data obtained and integrate new learnings with the nanowire bioFET platform.

Experimentation

  • Work with the team to design and run experiments, collect and analyze data, and clearly summarize objectives, conclusions, observations, and next steps in team meetings and discussions. Support decision-making processes by providing experimental insights and recommendations.
  • Support project-related activities, including documentation, protocol development, and technical presentations.

Collaborative Research and Development

  • Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams, including engineers, material scientists, chemists, and software engineers, to optimize sensor design and performance.
  • Participate in problem-solving sessions and brainstorming meetings to identify innovative solutions to technical challenges.

Continuous Learning and Innovation

  • Stay abreast of the latest developments in biochemistry and biological characterization methods. Proactively explore and recommend new assays or technologies to enhance capabilities or product performance.

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and documentation necessary for FDA clearance processes.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive experimental records following Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biochemistry, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field with 3- 5 years of relevant experience. Knowledge and experience with bioFET technologies is a plus.
  • Knowledge of protein/nucleic acid stability, ligand modification strategies, and characterization techniques such as affinity interaction analysis (SPR/Biacore, Octet, QCM-D), UV-Vis spectroscopy, dynamic light scattering, SEC, CD, FTIR, LCMS, etc.
  • Experienced with fluorescence and/or confocal microscopy using tagged biological molecules including appropriate reagent handling and operation of instrumentation (microscopes, plate readers, imagers, etc.).
  • Knowledge and experience with common surface coupling chemistries (i.e., amine, thiol, etc.). and antibody/DNA microarrays are a plus.
  • Experience with basic organic chemistry and surface characterization techniques such as ATR-FTIR spectroscopy, XPS, SEM, TEM, contact angle, and ellipsometry.
  • Hands-on experience operating and maintaining complex instrumentation in a cGMP-regulated environment. Comfortable reaching out to vendors as necessary to troubleshoot system problems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills. Strong attention to detail and adherence to documentation and methodology requirements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly adaptable to rapidly changing technologies and challenges. Proactive in identifying and pursuing opportunities for innovation and improvement.
