Conducts comprehensive statistical analysis on a variety of epidemiological and biological datasets, including but not limited to next generation sequencing (NGS) data. Generates statistical bulletins and provides expert statistical advice for a range of laboratory projects. Develop study designs, consult on data collection and contribute to writing statistical sections of scientific manuscripts.
Conducts rigorous statistical analysis on epidemiological and biological datasets, establishes thresholds for enhanced surveillance activities, organizes and consults on data collection, and assists in the development of study designs.
Provides expert statistical advice and consulting for a diverse range of research projects; assists in the design of epidemiological field surveys and infectious disease modeling and contributes to the writing of statistical sections of scientific manuscripts.
Generates weekly and monthly statistical bulletins, providing critical data updates to the team; assists the epidemiology and laboratory staff in preparing comprehensive annual reports.
Assists in the development and maintenance of statistics resources, including generating regular statistical updates on the departmental website.
Provides statistical computing support to the communicable disease staff, chief epidemiologist, and Laboratory Directory.
Performs other epidemiological and laboratory duties as assigned
Education, Experience and Training:
Education and professional experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Biostatistics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related scientific field with a strong foundation in statistical analysis. Two (2) years of professional work related experience.
Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Proficient in the use of standard software applications and be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Possess a strong understanding of statistical packages (GenStat, MINITAB, SPSS), regression models, non-parametric statistics, multivariate analysis, power analysis, and experimental design and sampling regimes. Experience in relational databases and GIS systems is also required.
Physical/Environmental Requirements:
Standard laboratory environment.
