Job Description

Purpose:

The Biotechnology Lab Technician will perform research in the NanoBio Systems Laboratory, a multidisciplinary lab featured in microbiology research integrated with microfluidics (website:

The project will be highly interdisciplinary and fast-paced, having multiple collaborating labs in environmental microbiology, microbial pathogenesis, and bioinformatics. The candidate is expected to work closely with lab members including postdoctoral researchers and graduate students.

Responsibilities:

* Perform microbiological experiments in the NanoBio Systems Laboratory.

* Work closely with postdoctoral researchers and graduate students in the laboratory.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

What we need:

* Bachelors degree in relevant field or equivalent combination of education and experience

* Two years of related experience

What is helpful:

* Masters degree in microbiology or related fields.

* Extensive experience in microbiology skills such as isolation and cultivation of bacterial strains, growth phenotype examination, molecular biology skills such as nucleic acid or protein extraction, electroporation etc.

* Experience in handling cells (mammalian cells, microorganisms) in microsystems.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

* Strong expertise in microbiology and molecular biology disciplines.

* Excellent writing and verbal communication skills.

* Ability to manage multiple projects.
