Maurer & Scott is an explosives distributor and blasting services provider operating in PA, NJ, NY, MD and the New England states. We are looking for experienced blasters in the quarrying, construction and mining segments of the explosives industry. The ideal candidate has 3 to 5 years' experience as a Blaster-In-Charge and currently holds blaster licenses in one or more states. Has the ability to supervise a blast crew. Has practical experience to conduct all elements of design, loading and detonation of a blast event in accordance with all state & federal regulations and company safety policies.Qualifications Required:
- A minimum of 2 to 5 years of blasting experience.
- Must possess a current Blasting License.
- Must be able to qualify for an ATF Employee Possessor permit.
- Understand the proper application of all current bulk and packaged explosives products.
- Experience with nonelectric and/or electronic initiation systems.
- Must know how to design and layout a blast.
- Know how to layout angled-hole blasts.
- Proficiency with a laser profiler.
- Ability to calculate product quantities for an explosive order.
- Ability to interpret a drill log and prepare a loading plan based on drilling conditions.
- Knowledge and ability to conduct a pre-blast site inspection.
- Must understand all elements of blast loading.
- Must be able to detonate a blast and understand the safety components related to that activity.
- Know how to use a seismograph.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to complete an Electronic Blast Report.
- Able to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Able to do physical labor include lifting 50 Lb. packages, bending and shoveling.
