Job Type Full-timeDescriptionJOB TITLE: Blast/ Painter PROGRESSION PERIOD: Class 2 - 3POSITION SUMMARY: Shotblast tanks, covers, and all component parts to White Metal . Pressure test and flush transformer equipment as required. Operate Roto Blast. Recognize obvious trouble and shut down equipment. Prep transformer parts for blasting. Chip and grind as required and directed. Operate cranes and fork trucks. Check completed work for flaws. Record readings from the Dwyer Manometer daily. Empty outside hoppers as needed. Check the basement of the blast for leaks and clean up weekly. Keep work area safe, neat and clean. Paint tanks, covers and all component parts of transformers by spraying, pouring, dipping, brushing or rolling, grinding and prep tanks for painting and all component parts. Operate and recognize problems with the equipment/paint and shut down the equipment. Maintain maintenance checklist on paint equipment. Tear down and repair paint equipment. Operate cranes and fork trucks. Check painted material when complete. Mix correct percentages of paint. Keep the work area safe, neat and clean. TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: Ladders, manlifts, cranes, spray equipment, Roto Blast, chipper, grinder, and other paint and cleaning equipment and tools as required.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT: The physical demands and work environment characteristics described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, hands, and arms, feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb ladders; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.Work environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. Education: High School Diploma or GEDTraining: On the jobPhysical efforts and skills: Moderate physical exertion.PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENTEmployees are expected to wear ANSI approved steel toe safety shoes and safety glasses. Other personal protective equipment as required.
