The Racing Division of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission is seeking to hire a Seasonal Blood Gas Testing Veterinarian. Under the direction of the Chief Commission Veterinarian, this position is responsible for maintaining relevant Commission paperwork and eligibility lists; and supervising the Testing Area. Commission Blood Gas Testing Veterinarians have an indispensable role in ensuring that the quality and integrity of racing in the Commonwealth remains high. The anticipated dates of service are April through November 2024.

The Massachusetts Gaming Commission may schedule the Blood Gas Testing Veterinarian on an as needed basis depending on the schedule of live racing days at the track to which the Blood Gas Testing Veterinarian is assigned. The Blood Gas Testing Veterinarian may be required to work irregular hours including weekends and holidays. The Blood Gas Testing Veterinarian shall be compensated by the hour for a minimum of 5 hours per day scheduled. The minimum daily compensation is only applicable if the Blood Gas Testing Veterinarian is able to complete all tasks assigned for that day, otherwise compensation will be adjusted for actual hours worked.
The successful candidate will be required to pass an extensive background check that includes a full credit check, CORI, drug screen, and finger printing.
The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is responsible for the implementation of the expanded gaming law (Chapter 194 of the Acts of 2011). Under the law, the Commission is tasked with establishing a regulatory framework for the solicitation, licensing, taxation, and oversight of a maximum of three casino licenses and one slots parlor license in Massachusetts.
