Founded in 2005, ASun Star provides services to individuals (adolescents, adults) and families within our facility and within the families' home, school, and/or community. We specialize in working with at-risk families and individuals diagnosed with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. POSITION SUMMARY:The BCBA will provide support to individuals and their families by ensuring the coordination and provision of services Applied Behavior Analysis, function analysis and assessments. The BCBA also plays a key role in identifying behavior acquisition and reduction procedures as well as adaptive life skills. ASun Star BCBA's are key in ensuring that ABA department implementation is seamless in terms of implementation and documentation associated with Behavior Support Plans.Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Function in a supervisory capacity to provide oversight to all areas of programming including the training of Tech I's, Tech II's and BT's.
  • Assist in the development, facilitation, and follow up training in Applied Behavior Analysis.
  • Facilitate and assist in the development and identification of resources and support information for clients and their families.
  • Provide model teaching and other direct instructional support including but not limited to, practicum supervision/teaching, class instruction and in-service instruction to other support professionals.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of assessment tools, to conduct functional assessments and analyses when appropriate, and to develop appropriate behavior strategies to teach appropriate behavior and reduce maladaptive behaviors.
  • Provide ongoing support and training to BT's, Tech II's, and other ABA implementers, and other individuals in support roles for families.
  • Apply and manage ongoing data collection system to establish a baseline and programmatic efficacy for all clients. Analyze data on a frequent basis to serve as an ongoing basis to guide programs.
  • Develop behavior plan/treatment plans for all consumers with a focus on teaching and other antecedent strategies for reducing problematic behaviors.
  • Review and sign off on behavior/treatment plans for all field staff and provide field supervision when necessary.
  • Keep current with all literature, new research findings and resources. In addition, continuing education courses to maintain BCBA certification are necessary (32 credits every 2 years).
  • Perform any other assigned duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Ability to accept constructive feedback and develop knowledge and skill sets accordingly.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisors, and community members.
  • Ability to adhere to organizational policies and procedures and abide by code of ethics as indicated by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board.
  • Ability to interpret and implement clinical protocols and written.
RequirementsBasic Physical Requirements:
  • Must have manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device functions for data collection.
  • Must be physically present at the assigned job location, which may include home, school, and community placements.
  • Must be able to receive detailed information through oral communication.
  • Must have visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication through computer, electronic devices, and paper means.
  • Must have reliable transportation and be willing and able to travel between different job sites within the Greater New Jersey Area.
  • Must have a valid New Jersey Driver's License & insurance in good standing.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to demonstrate competence in behavior management skill, instructional skills, oral and written communication, organizational skills and interpersonal relations
  • Ability to work with a variety of clients in regard to age, functionality, and with minimal direction
  • Knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook systems
  • Ability to utilize a fax machine, phone system, and other office materials as necessary for the position
  • Ability to respond quickly to phone calls, text messages, and emails.
  • Transportation that is reliable and insured in the state of New Jersey
Experience:
  • Certified as a BCBA for a minimum of 2 years, unless prior approval is granted by the Executive Director.
Education:
  • Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis or related human services field.
  • Successful completion of internship and/or formal training in the analysis of behavior and instructional strategies training related to working with clients who have pervasive developmental disorders and related disorders, their parents, and other agencies working with client.
