Job Title: BookkeeperPosition Function: Provides support for Administration by performing a wide variety of duties, some of a confidential nature that may be required but not limited to answering phones, advanced computer functions, typing, electronic filing, copying, distributing mail, proofreading, preparing reports and scheduling meetings. Provides the monitoring of students before and after school hours and those referred to the office during the school day. Bookkeeper functions include a variety of financial recordkeeping tasks.
Essential Performance Responsibilities:•Drafts letters, memos, and reports for Administration•Maintains databases, spreadsheets, letters/memos and presentations•Schedules appointments and meetings•Assists with additional duties as assigned by Supervisor
- Perform all payroll procedures, (which will consist of maintaining an accurate accountability of attendance; calling in for substitutes, filling out anticipated absence forms, etc.)
•Manages and tracks school/department budget and other budgets•Completes monthly bank reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner•Counts and safeguards cash; follows internal controls•Manages a high volume of cash, check and credit card transactions•Retains and organizes financial records that are be subject to internal and external audits•Learns and works to consistently comply with KSDE Activity Fund guidelines•Advises and communicates with Administration and school staff on accounting policies and procedures•Requisitioner for purchasing supplies and equipment as needed•Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment•Works with Purchasing to ensure compliance with district polices, Federal Guidelines and Kansas Statues regarding district purchases•Receipts goods and services to ensure timely payment of invoices•Ensures proper use of District's VISA credit card•Gathers VISA receipts and ensures timely expense reporting•Perform duties related to enrollment, pre-enrollment, summer school and magnet schools•Keep inventory of building keys
Equipment: This position may require the ability to use SMART boards and iPads in addition to basic office equipment such as computers, copiers, scanners, and fax machine. Must always comply with WPS guidelines for equipment use.
Travel: Limited travel between schools and central offices may be required.

Employee Punctuality and Appearance: •In order for schools to operate effectively, employees are expected to perform all assigned duties and work all scheduled hours during each designated workday, unless the employee has received approved leave•Any deviation from assigned hours must have prior approval from the employee's supervisor or building administrator•All employees are required to report to work dressed in a manner that reflects a positive image of USD 259 and is appropriate for their position
Qualification Profile: •A High School education or GED•Associate's Degree preferred•A minimum of six months district experience is required for this position (preferred)FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
