We are seeking a versatile and detail-oriented Bookkeeper/Accountant to manage all financial operations for our construction company. As the sole finance professional, you will be responsible for a wide range of accounting and bookkeeping tasks, ensuring accurate financial records, efficient financial operations, and compliance with industry regulations. This role requires a self-starter who can work independently and effectively manage the financial aspects of a dynamic construction business.Key Responsibilities:Bookkeeping:
Maintain and update accurate financial records using accounting software ComputerEase.Process daily transactions, including accounts payable and receivable.Manage construction project costs, including tracking expenses and payments.Reconcile bank statements and credit card transactions.Handle payroll processing, including tracking hours and managing benefitsAccounting and Financial Management:
Prepare and review monthly financial statements, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.Develop and monitor project budgets and forecasts, tracking expenses against budgets.Ensure timely and accurate invoicing for construction projects and manage client accounts.Monitor and manage cash flow, ensuring sufficient funds are available for operational needs and project expenses.Assist with financial planning and analysis, providing insights to support decision-makingCompliance and Reporting:
Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and accounting standards, including construction industry-specific requirements.Prepare and manage tax-related documentation.Handle financial audits, providing necessary documentation and support to auditors.Assist with month-end and year-end closing proceduresAdministrative Support:Maintain and organize financial documentation and records, ensuring proper filing and easy retrieval.Communicate with vendors, clients, and subcontractors regarding financial matters and payments.Manage financial correspondence and respond to inquiries as needed.Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.Stay current with industry trends, accounting practices, and regulationsQualifications:Proven experience as a bookkeeper or accountant, preferably in the construction industry.
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. ComputerEase, ProCore) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations, with experience in construction accounting preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred Skills:Experience with construction-specific accounting software or tools.
- Knowledge of industry-specific regulations, including job costing and contract management.
- Experience in sales tax collection and reporting
