Make a Real Impact with River City Food Bank!

Are you ready to bring your skills in finance and bookkeeping to a role where you can make a real difference in the lives of others? At River City Food Bank (RCFB), we're dedicated to ending hunger and promoting self-sufficiency in Sacramento County by providing nutritious food to anyone in need. Our work is about more than just food; it's about supporting our community and helping people move forward during tough times. If you're passionate about service and eager to make an impact, we'd love to meet you!

Why You'll Love Working with Us: In 2023 alone, RCFB distributed more than 3 million pounds of food to more than 308,000 people, including families, seniors, refugees, and those experiencing homelessness. You'll be part of a supportive and passionate team that values community and resilience, working every day to serve our neighbors.

About the Role: As our Bookkeeper & Administrative Coordinator, you'll be crucial to keeping our organization running smoothly. You'll manage financial records, support human resources functions, and tackle a variety of administrative tasks that keep us moving forward. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you'll collaborate with external partners like accounting firms, HR consultants, and vendors. Your work will extend beyond the numbers—you'll be making a tangible impact on a mission that truly matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform primary bookkeeping responsibilities.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for external partners, including our accounting firm, payroll provider, and other service vendors.
  • Maintain accurate financial records, including accounts payables and receivables.
  • Support budget preparation and monitor spending to align with our financial goals.
  • Handle payroll processing and work with our HR team on employee benefits administration.
  • Ensure all donations, grants, and payments are recorded accurately and in compliance with nonprofit accounting standards.
  • Collaborate with team members to track program expenses and allocate funds effectively.

What We're Looking For:

  • Education & Experience: Associate's Degree (or higher) in accounting, finance, or business administration, with at least two years of bookkeeping experience (or equivalent work experience).
  • Skills: Proficiency with QuickBooks, familiarity with office procedures, and experience in a nonprofit setting is a plus.
  • Attributes: You're organized, detail-oriented, and able to balance multiple priorities.
  • Initiative: You can work independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Communication: You're a team player who communicates well and enjoys collaborating.
  • Mission-Driven: Most importantly, you're passionate about helping your community thrive.

Work Environment: This full-time role is primarily on-site, with a Monday–Friday schedule and occasional evening or weekend hours for special events.

Physical Demands:

  • Prolonged sitting, computer use, and typing
  • Occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs.)

What We Offer:

  • Competitive hourly rate: $28-$32
  • Full-time, non-exempt position (40 hours/week)
  • Health and dental insurance
  • Paid vacation and holidays
  • Retirement benefits
