Job Description:
Summary/Objective Reporting to the Staff Accountant and in close collaboration with the accounting consultants, this position is responsible for the timely and accurate handling of cash, bank deposits, payables, and other finance related duties. Essential Functions Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepare all bank deposits in a timely manner.
  • Maintain cash receipts in the accounting software system including all remote deposits and EFT deposits.
  • Data entry of all designated check registers.
  • Process campaign pledges into accounting systems.
  • Reconcile and process quarterly campaign distribution checks.
  • Account processing, account receivables and all petty cash disbursements.
  • Process bills/invoices on a weekly basis ensuring appropriate general ledger account, department, grant code, and approvers are assigned in bill.com.
  • Maintain organized Finance Department files.
  • Maintain grant invoicing and servicing requirements.
  • Support budget development for grant application submissions when needed.
  • Support Senior Accountant with creation of grant budget spend down tracking and reports.
  • Support development of grant budget allocations for accurate coding.
  • Communicate with vendors on accounts payable.
  • Support credit card reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Support with annual audit requests.
Other Duties
  • Work in a team environment and support other departments as needed, in a collaborative manner.
  • Perform other tasks as requested.

  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and financial data analysis.
  • Proficient in bookkeeping functions.
  • Proven record of effective project management, ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and accounting software.
  • Ability to multitask and work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced office environment.
  • Strong math skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with multiple internal and external individuals.
  • Knowledge of English correspondence, correct punctuation, and grammatical usage.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret financial reports.
  • Flexible to change; proven ability to manage multiple high-priority projects and deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Understanding of and commitment to the mission, vision, and goals of United Way.
Education and/or Experience
  • Associate's degree with accounting coursework, or equivalent experience
  • A minimum of 1 years bookkeeping experience
  • Preferred: at least 1 year of nonprofit work or volunteer experience
  • Current Driver's License and verifiable automobile insurance
Salary Description $47,000-$52,000
