Job Description:
What we are looking for: Bookkeepers are tasked with ensuring resident accounts are current and accurate. They devise and implement strategies that assist in achieving delinquency and collections goals and great communication. Spanish a plus. Duties and Responsibilities -Complies with all Southern Management policies and procedures -Post rent daily and prepare deposits Enter move-outs, transfers, renewals, move-ins, increases, charges, and receipts within a specified time frame -Rent collection; collect all rental income, monthly rent, and late and legal fees -Contact resident by telephone or in person, who has neglected to pay their rent to ensure timely rental payments -To schedule meetings as necessary and coordinate with a Credit Counselor, as applicable -Leases apartment homes to future residents, and achieves necessary sales application goals -Monitor and update information in Yardi to ensure accuracy -Utilize promissory notes correctly to collect outstanding debt at community level -Verify all rental information to those inquiring whether present or previous resident -Filing of correspondence -Run month end report making necessary comments and adjustments -Run reports to inform the Property Manager of current delinquents and/or vacancy loss, etc. at any given time -Billing residents for any charges and outstanding rent/community invoice preparation -Communicate with Corporate Controller regarding any corrections/changes as needed -Communicate with legal department of suit and summons list -Performs various other duties as assigned by the Assistant Property Manager or Property Manager -Contribute to the team's effort by accomplishing tasks and assisting with projects as needed Skills Required -Ability to work well with residents and team members -Ability to keep accurate and neat records -Knowledge and understanding of general lease terms, community policies and procedures -Knowledge of office procedures, and clerical aptitude -Working knowledge of Microsoft® Office -Proficient in use of Yardi (an in-house software/computer system) as it relates to on-site bookkeeping responsibilities, within 60 days of training -High level of written and oral communication skills -Goal oriented with regard to management objectives Summary of Benefits: -High School diploma or GED -Minimum one year experience with bookkeeping or accounting related functions Hourly rate is only part of the employment equation.   • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of experience with accounting related functions, or equivalent education
  • Collections, credit counseling, and personal finance/budgeting experience preferred
