Job Description: BookkeeperAs a Bookkeeper at POCAAN, you are a member of the administration team and are tasked to create and analyze financial reports and ensure legal requirements for compliance, process accounts payable and receivable and manage invoices, tax payments, and employee benefits:Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for full cycle accounting duties
  • Code and enter vendor expense invoices
  • Process accounts receivable and invoice clients and customers
  • Record day to day financial transactions and complete the posting process
  • Ensure accuracy in general ledger
  • Update and maintain the general ledger
  • Daily cash management
  • Maintain fixed asset records
  • Maintain an orderly filing system for vendor, payroll and accounting documents
  • Process employee time sheets and payroll accurately and timely
  • Prepare quarterly payroll and unemployment documents
  • Complete monthly and annual account reconciliations
  • File routine administrative and regulatory documents
  • Participate in fiscal audits
  • Problem solving and customer service
  • Assist the organization, as needed, on special projects

Assist with annual fundraising eventsTeamwork and Collaboration:
  • Works in collaboration with program and all other agency staff to facilitate a team environment
  • Serves on POCAAN committees as requested
  • Participates in Program, managers, and executive team meetings and commits to group decisions
  • Role models effective team behaviors
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills in building relationships with employees and clients.
  • Creates good working relationships with local welfare administrators and other area service providers
  • Substitutes for other staff and other programs when need arises
  • Other duties as required
QUALIFICATIONS:Required Qualifications
  • Proven bookkeeping experience
  • Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable/receivable principles
  • Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records
  • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
  • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software
  • Proficiency in English and in MS Office
  • Customer service orientation and negotiation skills
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • BS degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration - Preferred
