We are currently seeking a Bookkeeping, Accounting, and Auditing Clerk to join our client's team. This role will provide crucial support in conducting financial analyses for approximately 200 higher education institutions (IHEs). The successful candidate will assist with calculating composite scores, preparing reports, and evaluating the overall financial condition of these institutions. The addition of this temporary role will help streamline financial processes and improve response time to stakeholders. Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Calculations & Analysis: Using the methodology prescribed by the U.S. Department of Education (34 CFR Section 668 Subpart L), calculate federal financial responsibility composite scores for higher education institutions (IHEs) based on their audited financial statements and accompanying notes.
- Data Management: Maintain and update a summary file of composite scores, noting any irregularities or areas of concern regarding IHEs' financial health.
- Data Collection & Cleaning: Gather, clean, and organize financial data from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) and the agency's internal data reports.
- Reporting & Data Visualization: Create graphs and data visualizations in Excel to assist in financial analysis and reporting.
- Payment Processing: Date stamp payments received by check, scan and distribute copies, and deliver checks to the appropriate staff members for processing.
- Audit Monitoring: Ensure that financial audits from higher education institutions are submitted on time and that they are complete and up-to-date.
Essential Requirements:
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced spreadsheet functions, data analysis, and creating visual reports.
- Ability to accurately calculate composite scores and interpret financial data for analysis.
- Previous experience or knowledge of accounting, auditing, or financial analysis processes.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to spot discrepancies or potential risks in financial data.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet deadlines.
